Traditionally, a set design is created to answer the need arising from a script or staging, but it rarely stands on its own, except perhaps in grand opera. So what if a stagework begins with its visual design, to which the story, music and staging then respond? Bráð was the core of my reasearch for my masters degree, at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design, into design led performance.
